The C6-generation Audi RS6 was a true supercar underneath an unassuming estate body style when it arrived back in 2008. 571bhp from a V10 engine related to the Lamborghini Gallardo made it the fast wagon to beat.
But the automotive world doesn’t stand still. Now hybrid powertrains and turbocharged V8 engines promise even more power. So can a little fettling restore the balance?
We took a modified RS6 to the drag strip to face off with a Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo e-Hybrid and Mercedes-AMG E63 S Estate to see if the older generation can teach the newcomers a thing or two.
